Sky sucking off Newcastle, what else is new
sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al · 2 pts · 1y
The level of which they're sucking off Newcastle is mad
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
switched stream cuz lag and it's no longer sky, bliss.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y
I still laugh when people want to accuse Arteta of buying orcs and becoming Stoke. Bitch, that's who we're playing against right now. Tackle everyone, don't get punished, score on the counter, be racist.

Match is too intense for my liking
Oneser@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 1y
It's got hamstring injury written all over it
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y
With our recent luck/form I'm not even surprised
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 3 pts · 1y
It's like these boys get a chance to shoot and there's always a village between the ball and the goal
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y
In fairness, this Newcastle game has felt to me like the hardest team we've had to play all season. They're defending very well.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y
They love to pull teams down to their level and kick the shit out of them. It's like swimming in mud.
MHPengwingz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
And they don't get punished for it
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Course not, that would be offensive somehow
sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al · 2 pts · 1y
Terrible defending from everyone
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Mmmm they went for the header, my confusion is what Martin is doing when he manages to get a toe on it. He doesn't seem to sense the danger
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
What's the point of crossing the ball in if any player that's in there gets marked by 5 Newcastle players?
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
Well we can't exactly walk it in - we just get tackled and they counter
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 0 pts · 1y
so the shortest guy can get his head to the ball and miss successfully
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 2 pts · 1y
It's actually fun to watch once you accept your life isn't affected by this club
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
We're up to 4.1% that none of our shots go in.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
in the stat's defence, these events aren't mutually independent, and the stats kinda assume that they are because they have to. We're just being bad.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Oh of course. I'm just kvetching. It also doesn't take into account players blocking the shot, which - naturally - Newcastle do a lot.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
This is not intended to be political, but I think it's tied up in it: there are a lot of people whose entire personality is linked with the idea of hating people who live in big cities.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
Why pay refs? Just ask opposition players whether it was a foul.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
Of course that fucker scores
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
tbh why's Tonali even able to play, wasn't he banned for gambling

Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Good news: we will, next month.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
I could honestly fall asleep to this Arsenal. At least it's still better than Emery / late Wenger.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
We need to control this game more.
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 2 pts · 1y
Why does Gordon have the high school bully face on
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
the fuck was that from Partey
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
oooof, close one. Deserved a goal from that.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Hmmm, yet another yellow. If we can sacrifice our players' limbs for free kicks that we don't score from and second yellows that never come, we might be in business.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Wow, the exact same cross and we barely avoid conceding from it.
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 1 pts · 1y
Timber out of all of them 💀
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Jesus fucking Christ.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Kinda pitiful shot by Jorginho that, ngl.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
why do we bother
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Martin, that was such an uninterested toe poke that Rice would have gotten sent off for it. What the fuck is going on with our players right now, honestly
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
might just be phoning it in at this point given everything's going against us. it's their job not to, but I'd understand, albeit obviously angry if they do.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Being jaded is one thing, but he's the captain. If he's not feeling it then our season is truly over.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
Oh, I agree. I just think I understand, not at all that it's justifiable.
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 1 pts · 1y
The ball could deflect off the keeper's ass and it would still be out
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Newcastle seem to only buy players that have extremely punchable faces.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
finally a chance that I feel like has a chance of working. Not far off from Jorginho that, though Dubravka always gets that if Jorginho had it on target.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
what an amazing clearance into the stands by Joelinton, you can really see how he's such a good player emblematic of this Newcastle side
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
only a player of his Brazilian flair could stand in front of goal and choose to hit it so high that it reaches the Karman line
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Ødegaard really should stop taking our free kicks by the way.
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 3 pts · 1y
Raheem had our first shot on target from a FK in 3 years
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
He is theoretically decent at them, but to be fair we haven't had anyone who's a free kick specialist ever since Xhaka left us.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
I know we can't right now but I'd throw Rice or smth at them. Man can do corners, can't be that much different :p
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Something interesting that I looked up because fuck watching this match - Michael Rosiak has the best free kick taking stat in FM at Arsenal.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
He's a pretty good player, makes sense. Hoping he makes it but he's probably a few years away if ever? based on what I've heard anyway.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Yeah, he's not in the Nwaneri/Lewis-Skelly bracket, but hopefully he starts getting some minutes in 2026.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
hopefully he gets a decent loan, imo. We use loans way too little.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Agreed, just let him cunt it at the goal and surely it'll go in sometimes
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
When's the last time we've gotten a penalty in an English game?
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
We're completely done.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Trossard needs to come off at halftime. What the fuck is our luck.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Some of it is luck but some of it is not. The effect of playing with 10 men grows exponentially as the season goes on. It's no wonder that our entire squad is being cripped by injuries when we've had to defend as much as we have. Another reason why I'm fully onboard the conspiracy train that we've had the league stolen from us this season.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
ok but it is still luck that the injuries are piling up at the same spot at the same time, we've not had a single injury in midfield besides Ødegaard unless you count Nwaneri, not a single injury to centrebacks, etc.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Plus all the injuries from training, which is also luck. Really it's just Saka that is probably not luck-based, more an indictment of how much football he plays.
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 1 pts · 1y
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Gabriel shouldn't be taking that shot.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
what do you mean we didn't score from that corner???
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 1 pts · 1y
Tross u don't make these sort of passes on the counter
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Good interception by Trossard that.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
kinda shocked that Trossard has stayed on tbh, hope he's alright.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Sterling fit enough to be back on the bench :D
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
I don't really want to say anything about that goal besides this: we need to get good at scoring goals.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
This is a pretty strong side, I hope we do well here. We all know they can and will try to fuck us at St. James' Park otherwise.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
tf are they complaining about, it's a very very clear foul.
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Tbh they're usually allowed to get away with it, especially against us.
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 1 pts · 1y
Nelli has looked bright today
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Almost would rather watch Chibnall's Doctor Who.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
Statswise apparently we've had 14 shots and nearly 2 xG. I'm gonna be honest I don't know how much more bad luck I can fucking take lads
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
Fun fact, assuming all those shots were the same xG, there's a 12.3% chance that we score on none of them. Almost approaching the probability that we keep a clean sheet against City.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
we're gonna end this season scoring like 20 less than our xG istg
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
And Liverpool are already 6 up on their xG 🙃
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

still a hundred and twenty minutes to play at least
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y
We are more than capable of putting three past this team, but will the universe allow it?
MHPengwingz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
I have no faith in that tbh this season
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y
what else are we gonna hope for
sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
For the league to be fair, really.
Astrealix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
more of a pipe dream than us bringing Messi in
bootinelli@lemmyis.fun · 1 pts · 1y
126 minutes of taking shots from in front of 10 players, Casper Havertz being the number 9, Partey giving the ball away and more refereeing festivities.
