Poland's president has urged the government not to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should he attend the Auschwitz liberation anniversary event later this month, his office said Thursday.

Isn't the law applied independently from the government by the courts in Poland ? If so, then wouldn't the arrest be up to the judges, rather than whatever the president or government says ?

It seems like the perfect time and place for the arrest to happen to be honest. Much of my family was killed at Auschwitz, and I would be incredibly offended if Netanyahu, a man currently committing genocide, turned up at a memorial for genocide. He has no right to be there, but if he goes he should absolutely be arrested immediately.
