I did 2-1/2 years in AFG. I cringe any time some one say "Thank you for your service." Bitch, I didn't do I for you. I did it because I didn't know what else to do and couldn't afford college. Luckily for me, my time in gave me a skill that I now make over $100k a year. Definitely don't need anyone's respect.
