I've been on Matrix for a few weeks now and like it quite a bit, but I'd like to join another homeserver to aid in the decentralization movement. Are there any trustworthy ones the people of Lemmy know of?
Edit: After looking, the only ones I found that were "recommended" are weird lolicon servers, or aren't federated with ANY of the rooms and spaces I want to be in. Why is the home server situation this bad??? Is Matrix's federation system different/worse or something? This is making very little sense to me.

@thibaultamartin has mentioned that they are working on a better instance picker for #Matrix.
Meanwhile, the choice is but a bunch of curated lists and arbitrary metrics from which you infer if the server is worth going with or not: rules in place, general international hosting, registration through in-house Element or SSO, latest version of software, and (most importantly) sustainability.
If you know that admin can hang on until you're able to donate yourself, it's a world of difference from those "lolicon servers" because host takes it seriously.
@shinnoodles So, here's my personal favorite: https://techhub.social/@vintprox/109432716734526087
There is even a table explaining why I chose this particular instance for our group.

It's not so much about registering a user on other servers, but about finding rooms on other servers (I'm not aware of one existingl)
I wonder why there isnt a global search..
There's a single default matrix identity server.. So that should be possible right?
