Thieves used explosives to blast their way into the Drents Museum in Assen, which was hosting an exhibition of priceless Romanian jewellery made from gold and silver.

At this point I can see four possible outcomes:

They get caught and the treasure is recovered.

They get away but the treasure is later recovered.

They sell the treasure to a collector, treasure is lost for decades.

They melt it down, and the treasure is completely lost.

Seems most likely either 1 or 4 with 4 being more likely cause it's why I'd go after just gold things if I was some sort of thief.

Hopefully not though!

I'd question why a thief would go for museum artifacts if that was the plan, being that shitty jewelry stores and whatnot seem easier to shake down.
