in my experience, most ppl would poke extraordinary things with a stick or pen or something.

After that first hit of understanding, though, it's all over. Humans have a cultural if not innate tendancy towards curiosity. Even if it is ill-advised.

honestly this is just how most monsters are, like oooo wow how scary a fucking amorphous blob of darkness and tentacles, truly scary stuff!

The scariest things are that which are too easy to comprehend, where you completely understand why it's like that.
