Which is because of the failing education systems in many countries. Like my other comment said. They're getting what they deserve, but it's not their own fault they fall for this shit.
I can understand that voting blocs within the Democratic coalition want to make sure they aren't taken for granted. But, being locked into a two-party setup, the only effective way to do that is to deny support to their least-worst political option.
This is the consequence of that strategy. This is the alternative to being taken for granted by your nominal allies: Being defenseless in the face of the attacks against you.
