El Salvador offers to house violent US criminals and deportees of any nationality

El Salvador has apparently offered to imprison US citizens for a fee. Trump previously explored using Guantanamo Bay as an offshore concentration camp to avoid expenses such as pediatric care and education for undocumented children. This sounds like the same sort of things, but for citizens.

It's just for-profit prisons but now in El Salvador:

Bukele later confirmed the agreement with Rubio on X, saying in a post, “We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted US citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee.”

El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center, commonly referred to as CECOT, is the country’s largest and newest prison, with a maximum capacity of 40,000 inmates.

“The fee would be relatively low for the US but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable,” he added.

Primary goal is stated as holding deportees, but the option of holding US citizens was floated by El Salvador as well. Deporting US citizens in this matter should currently be illegal.

Dear imperial media... Putting people in cages and torturing them is not "housing", "taking in", "accepting", etc. Dystopian nightmare fuel. FFS.

Also attacking refugees and migrants is not a "crackdown" but overt fascism.
