First handwired design/build

First handwired design/build

I designed this little desk-mounted macropad last week and finally got around to wiring it up yesterday. It was a fun little project but I’m not great at soldering so the wiring was a bit challenging. Really happy with how it turned out, though!

Specs:

  • Raspberry Pi Pico MCU
  • Gateron Oil Kings
  • Drop Dasher

I didn't know those were available for purchase, incredible

A guy who runs a local print shop gave it to me when I was picking up some other stuff. I'm not sure if he ever ended up selling them but he does have some other ITYSL merch.

What will you be using just 4-9 for if you dont mind my asking? Just a fun project?

cloffwrangler@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Right now 7, 8, and 9 are mute, volume down, volume up. 4 and 5 toggle my mic and webcam in Zoom, 6 needs to be mapped to something still, and Return definitely does not toggle a mouse jiggler.

Ah. So the keycaps aren't literal.

cloffwrangler@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 1y

Nope, they just weren't being used and were the right rows to go with the ISO.

Thank you!

How does that not hurt your wrist??

cloffwrangler@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y

Nah, I only use it for occasional things like toggling my mic and webcam in Zoom and adjusting volume. And then I have a macro that turns off my computer.

Very clean 👌 Bambu?

cloffwrangler@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Yep! P1P

mipadaitu@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Almost any modern printer can print that clean now. Bambu upped the game, but everyone caught up.
