My last find was in 2016 and I'm looking to get back to it. What equipment and supplies are you taking with you on your adventures? Are you using a standalone GPS or just your phone?
Looking forward to seeing/hearing about your kit.

Oh man, my kid asks about doing this more but I always get annoyed by the hoops to jump through to use apps, or their paid tiers and whatever. Hope someone has a good app recommendation. I don't mind paying if it's a quality one

c:geo worked well when I tried it

I second cgeo. It unlocks most of the caches. Though you might also try the web version on your phone to accomplish the same thing but it's less intuitive.
It took me a month or two of playing geocaching until I felt I really wanted premium and I don't regret it.

A pen and a pair of tweezers is what a friend recommended. Also a pair of gardening gloves if you're going to bring a bag with you

I use just my phone. The gear I take is a pen, a multitool, and some spare logbooks. If I go at night, a torch.
