Physical exercise. You'll still be depressed, but at least you'll be depressed and ripped.

Dark_Blade@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 3y

Exercise also helps you cope with stress and makes you happier. Get ripped guys.

whatisallthis@lemm.ee · 11 pts · 3y

I’m going to physically exercise my right to lay down

RealFknNito@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I exercise my left arm quite frequently.

ThisGuysNeverSerious@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

Only one hand? Rookie.

Acer@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 3y

That one is hidden behind Marge's head

Comment105@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 3y

And maybe injured, if you're depressed, desperate, and end up going hard without being careful.

Starving myself isn't a coping mechanism; that's a symptom of ADHD causing me to not remember that my body needs food to live.

kameecoding@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3y

but it offsets the binge eating disorder I developed as a coping mechanism for emotional distress

I regularly checked 5 of those boxes for a few years. I just slowly cooled my roll and now I occasionally participate in a few of those things.

duckington@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 3y

Holy this one is a deep cut

aircooledJenkins@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 3y (2 replies)

At least 3 of those are not bad things.

Spimble@lemm.ee · 9 pts · 3y (1 reply)

You trust me to do them in a healthy way??

aircooledJenkins@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3y

Yes, I trust you, internet stranger.

Eccentricity19@lemmy.sdf.org · 7 pts · 3y

You're doing it wrong if you only pick one.

Acer@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 3y

Shit, I've done literally all of those. At least now I'm down to four.

Frenchtoastfan@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 3y

Why pick only one?

queerly_hot@kbin.social · 5 pts · 3y

this is painfully real

Vorticity@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3y (3 replies)

What makes maturation a terrible coping mechanism? It doesn't hurt anyone including yourself.

RealFknNito@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

While your prostate will thank you, it's an 'unearned' dopamine rush that convinces you that you did something good for the day. It can psychologically reinforce negative behavior and have you get complicit with your surroundings and make positive change harder. But that's true for all coping.

SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 3y

I feel like if that's the case then evolution really fucked its job up (metaphorically)

If masturbation was a negative thing, we likely wouldn't have been inclined to do it. As far as I know, that unearned dopamine rush thing being bad is a bit of a myth.

JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 3y

Wastes a lot of time if you do it a tone. And one can hurt themselves if they do it constantly (several hours a day?) and rub it raw.

Falmarri@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Hey. I don't like weed or alcohol

Kolanaki@yiffit.net · 5 pts · 3y (1 reply)

May I interest you in heroin and promiscuity instead then?

vulnerability@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 3y

a bit of lsd too... mmm

Andvari@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

Pretty much me, no bdsm, binging or flirting though. I'm doing good!

UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

masturbating is good for your well being.

tacosplease@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

There's got to be an upper limit on how often it should be done though right?

Norgur@kbin.social · 3 pts · 3y

There are some possible combinations there. BDSM Muckbang Session with a total stranger you never intend to see again let's goooooo

thorbot@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y
