I wonder how this can be such a universal experience...? When people turn on the lights on the back seat it barely bothers me, even in pitch black darkness.
My recent car doesn't get affected that much when a light is on. They have special reading lights now. It might be that some newer cars the light is more directed or some cars the light doesn't hit a seat or something that you can see.
