Marketing department at Pebble is apparently familiar with social networks cause they seem to really be doing the rounds today (lemmy, hacker news, etc).
Yeah, Pebble watches have a pretty loyal fanbase (including myself), and the r/pebble subreddit has been active for years despite the fact that they've been defunct for almost a decade. Google open-sourced the OS in January, Eric made announcements about creating a new company to make new PebbleOS-based watches, then yesterday his website (link in this post) started a countdown.
Now here we are.
I'm going to wait and see how these new watches fare in terms of reliability. I wasn't a fan of the Pebble 2 and it's issues, but that's supposedly been resolved. These new units use essentially the same design, but with better materials and reinforcements.
I'm hyped for this, I still use my Pebble Time 2 but it's getting old and the battery doesn't last nearly as long as it used to. I've tried other smart watches since then but none even compared. Personally I think Pebble has the perfect blend of features to make the perfect smartwatch for what I want to do with it. And the fact that the software is open source is really cool too. I hope the new hardware can still run my old watch faces and apps from before Pebble got shut down

This isn't Pebble, Google owns that. This is Eric's new company, Core Devices, the spiritual successor to Pebble.

Ah - you’re right (seems to be “pebble OS” but not Google hardware). It’s still all over my feeds today though.
