Nightcore always needs some degree of remixing and careful song selection to be good. Syrex does a good job of it, but a lot of nightcore "producers" just run it through an algorithm and upload whatever junk it spits out.

Really? I thought the average nightcorer just puts a song on 2x speed and, if they're feeling fancy, add a loud beat.
