And "consent or pay" models may fall foul of data protection law in the UK if a user's consent has not been "freely given", according to the ICO.

Pay Or Concent feels like being held at ransom. I don't mind seeing ads, I just don't want them to be targeted. This used to be what the regulation achieved before it was changed to this.
