I get around this problem by having ~10 very important files that I shoehorn into all situations

I just save everything to iCloud and let it rot there at 20 dollars a month*

I roughly sorted, and then OCR indexed my funny folder using Obsidian and one way sync from my phone to my PC 🙂 Now I can search by text in images.
