I mean, how is this not plain to everyone? It used to be the rich would convince the middle class to blame the poor. Obviously freeloading lazy baby makers and layabouts buying steaks with food stamps are the root drain on our government resources right? Never mind that welfare accounts for barely a sliver of our government spending. Then socialism became a wedge issue, until the Republican base started to realize they may need public roads, schools, municipal services, and might enjoy a camping trip some day. Well, now, the middle class is shrinking, so the rich are convincing the middle class and the poor that immigrants are to blame. Somehow these barefoot uneducated dark skinned immigrants are either stealing all our jobs (disregard all the help wanted signs you see as leftist propaganda) or are masterminding a massive fentanyl smuggling operation. The contradictions are astounding. At what point does the general public get tired of supporting red herring crusade after red herring crusade, being angry at everything and everyone they can label as different? When do we get to elect a government that governs something other than social issues? And when will the Republican base finally understand that trickle down economics has never and will never work?
