Canadians willing to pay more for homegrown goods: survey

*Canadians willing to buy local homegrown goods for reasonable prices that are comparable to the imported alternatives. Title fixed.

I am willing to pay more to avoid the US but I strongly prefer that extra goes to smaller businesses.

For example for dishwasher detergent powder I’m willing to pay extra compared to my mainstay Great Value, but I don’t want to give Pattison or Weston and the cartels $$$$ to sell me ridiculously priced stuff. But I can order direct from Nellie’s and it comes out more but I’m ok with that.

Local markets can often have extremely good deals, as with the soon-to-expire-food apps. Being flexible on what you buy can help you get good prices and still local and non-US.

Yup. Willing to pay more for Canadian and even goods from Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Still boycotting a few countries due to current on going matters...

No Loblaws, no matter what. Yes I still shop at Costco as they stuck with their DEI policies and they don't treat their employees like garbage and pay a reasonable wage(at least here in Canada).

Don't give the grocery chains any bright ideas!

To a degree, of course... not going to blow my whole paycheck on switching without research first.

It gives me hope to see more people checking the fine print on grocery products.
