Definitely don’t start hard mode then. I thought i was good at the combat. Started hard core and proceeded to get my ass kicked, repeatedly.
Now i have to actually learn the combos and use weapons other than a short sword. Heavy weapons are your friend when the enemy is heavily armored.

KC:D is one of my favourite games but I did the same. I had to enable godmode to get through it

I just watched a YouTube video that taught you how to cheese the combat system by winning a clinch then poking the face with a sword or bashing the head with a mace. KCD2 has kind of forced me to switch it up a bit, which I appreciate.
I have no interest in a hardcore mode though.

Well yeah, you won't play the game without buying it. The hardcore mode update is free, though.
