I hate to have to tell you but this is staged. The tree is an oak and the flowers look like azalea flowers someone stuck on.

I think you’re right. I misinterpreted what my friend sent me when she said she honored the dying tree with fallen blossoms. I have asked her for clarification and I’ll update here when I get it.

Cauliflory is a thing, a cool thing, but this isn't it. OP's friend decorated her dying oak tree with azalea blossoms.

Thanks, I was looking everywhere for some kind of link between a tree being in poor health and expressing caulifloric tendencies, was coming up with nothing. But I swore I saw a post like this one a few days ago so I was going mental trying to find a source that supports what's going on here.
