I think it would be an insult to Elliot to act as a woman for money like a figurative deadnaming but when the last of us was written he was a woman if that makes sense which makes me think he that character was based on. Ellie is zombie Juno.

The obvious reason of course being that he is wealthy. I can't imagine any serious, hungry actor would turn down a significant and meaningful role just because it required playing cross gender.
