MIT Chemistry students had their sleep monitored. Quality of sleep accounted for 25% of the variance in grades. What matters is sleep the week/month before the exam, not the night of the exam.

Sounds like there is a bizarre kernel of truth to sleep debt. You can’t simply sleep the debt away, but a lack of consistent sleep accumulates.
