I met someone a few years ago who had a green card for 15 years. They lived and worked in America. I asked them why they didn't get citizenship and they said there was no reason to. I guess they were lazy about it or comfortable the way things were.
I know some other people who may have stalled on the citizenship process because it's intimidating. Taking tests and interviewing just isn't easy for some people.
This lady's story reminds me of them. I bet there are a bunch of cases like this where everyone assumes things are going to be fine, but now they are not.
