I bought a shitbox Chevy Impala two years back as a cheap commuter. I've been avoiding putting any money into it, because this thing is beat.
Well I finally caved and put four new tires on it yesterday, and all I can say is wow! The car drives a million times better.

Don't ever skimp out on the things that go between you and the pavement, aka. tires and brakes.

I definitely keep up on repairs for my wife's truck, but it's hard to put money into mine when I keep expecting it to die at any time. It just refuses to give up.

Wheels are pretty easy to pull off if the car goes caput, but yeah I hear ya. Hard to prioritize the shitbox when everything else exists.

I’ve heard a different variation where pavement is replaced with ground in general. That version applies to shoes, beds and basically anything between you and the earth.

If you’re dragging your brakes on the road you’re doing it wrong…. Or Fred Flintstone 🤣

I too love new tyre day.
The difference in ride quality is really noticeable in some cars.
