mid tier gaming GPUs have been good enough for a long time - buy once, and you're set for the next >5 years

The obscene price jump in gaming CPUs 6-7 years ago made them unaffordable for many people. I would not be surprised if that has something to do with AMD's gaming market shrinkage.
