rip soundcloud. Is there some alternativ on the fediverse for soundcloud?

You can probably post your music and follow musicians from any fediverse platform, but there is a specialized audio/music one:

Funkwhale.

How to pick a pod? Based on what criteria? Is there a better or a worse pod, similar to pros and cons of different Lemmy instances?

Unfortunately I don't know for sure. I have not used Funkwhale myself. I did look around at some of the pods listed on that site. I suppose you would need to visit each pod to see if you can tell if what they're about matches what you want to share.

Welp. Time to remove all my music.

Best update all your files with some trash first and let it sit for a couple months to hopefully overwrite any backups, there's no guarantee that "deleting" it from your account will actually remove it from their servers.

Sounds like this is for AI powered music recommendations.
