Is it really if it is on YouTube?

To be fair, he mentions that particular irony himself right at the start of the video.

And if the point of the video is to plant a seed in the mind of all those people who are still fully entrenched in big tech giants, then youtube is certainly the place to actually find and reach those people.

He admits this in like the first 20 seconds. Lol

If there is no perfect solution, it's OK to do the best you can.

Honestly, in terms of exposure and monetization, there's no real alternative. Even just hosting, other than something like daily motion, where else should this person have posted this?

I like the first comment as I also had a disagreeing thought when he stated that it would be bad to "isolate" from us corpo

"Isolationist no, but having options instead of a monopoly would be lovely. I am kind of dreaming of the EU becoming an open-source oasis..."

So, I didn't watch all of it because an ad about AI came on that wasn't skippable and was lasting more than 5 seconds. It was intolerable. Seriously, people publishing on YouTube about this kind of thing NEED publish at least one other place & to add links to alternative video hosts.

This I can agree with. Obviously PeerTube isn't going to replace YouTube anytime soon, but people who this type of content or are interested in promoting alternatives should absolutely make a second post/link on a Fediverse site to help increase traction and give viewers options.

EDIT: Sometimes Invidious, Freetube, and Newpipe aren't broken, so use those. If they are and you're on android, use YouTube Revanced.

The crosspost provides a Peertube link

There was a nebula. Would it have been unethical to reupload the video to peertube myself?

You realise that both kagi and apple are American? Apple is even like the definition of American tech giant
