When voting closed at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), official electoral data showed a 64% voter turnout [...] In the first round on May 4, the final turnout stood at 53% of eligible voters.

Wow, so many Romanian don't give a fuck about where their country is going. 64% is better than 53% but still quite bad.

Centrists represent the majority of the voter’s view so this is good.

All the right has is fear

And excellent collaborators in the political center.

As long as they keep the right from "protecting us" with fascism, let's collaborate.

Okay you probably misunderstood that. Fascists have excellent collaborators in the political center (aka centrists). Electing a centrist today in a race like this virtually guarantees that you elect a fascist tomorrow. If there are any Romanians here, you have to figure something out now if you don't want to end up like Hungary or Turkey.

No - George Simion won the first round of the election with 22.9% of the vote.

This was annulled as you say due to Russian election interference.

Then it was ran back and he won the first round again.

Then in the second round, the runoff, he lost. That's what just happened.

You can argue that you shouldn't annul elections due to interference, if you want to you can even argue that this was a pro-Europe conspiracy

But factually he at no point won the election, and when they reran the first round he was not only still a candidate, his vote share actually increased.

But he still lost the second round.

So if you ask me this coup theory doesn't hold much water

He didn't get banned, he ran again, won the first round and lost the second round

Thanks for the correction. I will delete my previous comments because of their inaccuracies.

Nah that's just upholding against the paradox of tolerance and foreign influence. Ban the intolerants, and act accordingly against foreign meddling.

I agree but they should have done that before the elections. Cancelling the elections when the Fascist guy is winning looks really stupid.
