sorry if i'm kinda elitist, but shonen edgy anime (pretending to be seinen) starred by teenagers are the worst examples to defend your case...
-danganronpa: i can give it a pass mostly by the concept
-naruto: good start, crappy ending, darkness(tm) all the way
-boku no pico hero academia: it's green naruto with liberal ideals
-mirai nikki: kinda cringey love story with edgy yandere waifubait
-eva: too mainstream
-elfen lied: sorry, but that was a crappy story only sustained by edgyness and tiddies
you should have selected something deeper like: shimoneta to iu gainen, serial experiments lain, black lagoon, welcome to the nhk, ghost in the shell...
