Instagram and Facebook users in Europe will soon have their data and posts used by parent company Meta to train its artificial intelligence (AI) models.
Europeans have until May 27 to restrict Meta from using their data, the date when the company will start using Europe’s data.

Here's how to beat this: delete all meta services! No Facebook, Instagram, Threads or WhatsApp. Delete it all.

@dormouse759 @cm0002 that assumes that Meta/FB actually deleted the data and didn't just put a flag in their database entry marking it as deleted
I very much doubt they ever really deleted the data for deleted accounts, and just turned them into advertising shadow accounts. If FB didn't and people no longer have an account, they can't opt-out as one needs an account to opt-out

@webhat @cm0002 @Em0nM4stodon if they didn't respect deletion upon request under the GDPR, they won't respect an opt-out button either.

@webhat @cm0002 @Em0nM4stodon deleting the account is an opt-out from this as well, a harder opt-out than what meta is providing.
I withdrew consent with them holding any of my data. They legally must not hold it for any purpose.
So saying that people who deleted an account have no way to opt out is like saying that a person without a car has no way to opt out of car insurance. No shit.
I know that reality may be different than what's on paper, but I can't just prove they hold the data.
