Inaccessible communities? (EDIT: solved)

Hello, I'm new here! I'm currently trying to find communities to join. One of them I ran across which I'd personally like to join is https://lemmy.world/c/dfw , which I believe should translate to https://sh.itjust.works/c/dfw@lemmy.world , but that currently gives me a 404. Is there any reason for this? Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate the help!

You should use the search first. Search for https://lemmy.world/c/dfw and wait until it appears in the results. Then click the link and subscribe.

It might take a few secs, depending on the server load.

Whoa, that worked. It's as if searching for it actually created or linked the community. Thank you!

And now everybody can access it with the original link. It's not super convenient yet when the community is not federated, I hope it'll get better in the future versions of Lemmy.

I made the same mistake on my own instance.

You need to use the search. Search for !dfw@lemmy.world, and it takes longer than you think to show up. The web address only works once someone has visited for the first time.
