Not only that, Species legally can't be copyrighted, it's too broad an idea. The name can be Trademarked, but most of the artists out there aren't willing to cough up the money to do so nor continue fighting to maintain said Trademark.
Others were just outright denied copyright and trademark in those areas. Like Malice-Risu, the creator of Primagens, who was denied copyright and Trademark for the species.
why did a mod remove my comment. It wasn't rude to anyone? To the mod that removed it: don't cover up bad behavior in the community. If there's a problem, say something.
