The Liberux Nexx smartphone will be (if it makes it to the production stage) the most powerful smartphone (with the RK3588S) to run GNU/Linux and the mainline kernel. More powerful than the PinePhone Pro, or the OnePlus 6. It will have a decent OLED display, alot of RAM, and much of what you would expect from a privacy-focused GNU/Linux smartphone such as hardware killswitches.
That is to say, this phone will (hopefully if it releases) be a true daily-driver candidate for many people, more so than the current offerings are now. While I am skeptical of it (as I am with any crowdfunded project) I think this will be a great thing if it does make it to production.

This being $2039 CAD I can't find any way to justify the price. Even as the Linux enthusiast in my circles this is too much.
For 2k I'd honestly rather buy a Framework 16.

Yeah, this thing has comparable specs to my desktop computer with the price to match. When comparing to the PinePhone, this has 10x the RAM and 16x the storage.
In a time when so much stuff is unaffordable, maybe building an incredibly beefy phone as a startup doesn't seem like the best idea.

The current supply chain ecosystem (including Trump's tariffs) that's probably driving up the cost makes me sad as I really want to see more Linux phone choices like this come to market as it drives the prices of other similar devices down. :(
I really want to buy a Linux native phone that's comparable or at least close to Samsung's S8 or Google's Pixel 3.
In maybe 2 years if there's still nothing decent available I'm probably gonna buy a used phone on Ebay or wherever and just flash pmOS or GrapheneOS. I'd rather spend my time than money at this point.

Maybe they're hoping there's an untapped market for that, which would involve strong margins and therefore help fund work on more run-of-the-mill hardware...?

I won't be able to take this seriously until it proves it can successfully make a phone call over VoLTE.

The biggest thing keeping me from daily driving a Linux phone is the camera. I want a good camera, not an afterthought. I can only guess from the renderings, but this thing looks like the camera was an afterthought.
