how does that work? pull an ordinary espresso, put ice cubes in and steam it with the steam wand of your machine?

Exactly that.

I put about double the mount of ice to coffee, then steam. Mostly stretching, until I can hear the ice is mostly melted.

Dont let the drink get warm, its meant to be cold.

I'll then serve in a chilled glass and with more ice.

Basically a shakerato, but the machine does the shaking for you
