This is just so hilarious and sad at the same time. For some context, the Swiss military had (after a lengthy and expensive process) selected the Gripen to replace its fleet of aging F18s. That decision was then overturned by the Swiss voters via a referendum, causing the whole process to restart and finally, years later, selecting the F35… and now we are back at square one I guess.

Not a 100% sure but there are some city level politics to consider when becoming a full citizen.
It also varies by canton or something. Complicated stuff
