Upgrading linux-firmware needs manual intervention

ok i thought i was just incompetent with my system

Much appreciated for the heads up. I just ran into this, and this post saved me a modest amount of time.

Holy shit, I sat down at my desktop every day for an hour or two over the four day Quebecois long weekend, trying to figure out what went wrong.

Least I had lots of time to spend with my wife and kids.

Edit: honestly, I wish pacman would have actually handled this without a required manual intervention.
