Myki was a shitshow when it was introduced. This is just more of the same.

This smells like corruption though, asking a bidder to raise their price to make the preferred bidder win the contract. I honestly can't remember, were these shenanigans going on with the original Myki tender too?

I can't find a source but it was decided that the original Myki should be built as a custom solution at a greater expense and with a slower rollout even though there were already off-the-shelf solutions that were working around the world that would have been faster and cheaper to implement.

Yeah you're right, that sounds shady too.

Remember Transdev winning the bus contract on being cheap, then completely skimping on maintenance.

A contracts price is going to be entirely dependant on its scope. The trouble though the scope can be manipulated to prefer a certain bidder.

I can't tell if this is actually bad or just bitterness about losing the bid.

Someone on the other platform said that Cubic have done this in many places they’ve lost bids
