Am I weird for wanting to keep my phone as clean as possible? I don't have any social media stuff on my phone, only the messaging apps I use to communicate with people I've met face to face before, my antivirus, my VPN, an adblocking DNS and brave browser

Brave is owned by peter thiel. Of 'palantir' and 'blood boy' fame.

Reinstall and choose an open browser.

I knew brave had issues but I never realised fucking thiel owned it. I've never been more glad to not use a product.

Basically anything tgat isn't explicitly foss or doesnt explicitly challenge power should get a real close eye on it before you touch.

I just used google's API through mullvad Leta, I wasn't able to find any information to verify the claim you made

Cursory search didnt find, but then it wouldn't.

Maybe its owned by one of the good pro privacy vc's and i just misremembered.

Edit:

yes, and adblockers are "harmful and dangerous"

vala@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

wise_pancake@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 1y

Not weird at all!

Why would you have an anti virus if you never install apps?

ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org · 2 pts · 1y

three words, zero-click-exploits

Things can be installed without you doing anything
