For me its more like that bit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where the soldier seems miles away as he charges the castle, until a random moment where he's right on top of them.

You need to run toward the wave and dive at the bottom. Or take a surfboard 🏄‍♂️ or die trying. I did few dive, rinse and repeat, I did few surfing. Now I am more of letting it come to me.
