Wasn't he introduced with a story of pulling off a miracle to escape the Gorn? Or am I not remembering properly?

Yeah, he cobbled together a fake Gorn transponder, and built a trap out of force fields and fake biosigns.
But he probably gave accurate time estimates like a rank amateur.

I find I am delighted with Quinn’s Scotty.
I could have waited another season for him to be introduced - but I also could have been happier if SNW wasn’t so laser-focused on building the backstory of legacy characters vs giving us more of the new ones - and the cipher that was Number One.
