What communities ("subreddits") would you like to see?

My local subreddit, but it will sadly never happen, because the overwhelming majority of users there simply don't care about whatever spez or reddit is doing - they didn't even do the 48h blackout, just complete apathy. Oh well, I'll miss it, but not enough to actually go back there, so it's all good.

Talesfromtechsupport and the other tales subreddits were always great.

I will miss Hybrid Animals too.

I play a lot of Stardew Valley and I'm going to miss that community, as there sadly doen't seem to be enough interest for it around here. And the jazz-related communities are also inactive.

I really miss my local city sub. It had barely any traffic but it would keep me in touch with certain events abs news.

I tended to use Reddit for smaller niche communities, many of which I do not see here yet. For example Eldin Ring, Ghost of Tsushima, Hot Sauce, Gifrecipes, Rings of Power, PTCGL. It will be nice when these can be created and have enough people to make it interesting but it's not there yet.

Niche, but I enjoyed Stereograms.

Cosplay, anyone? Like sewing, there's some amazing artists out there.

HobbyDrama. I wouldn’t have anything to contribute so I haven’t started it myself, but I really enjoyed reading the in depth writings about niche hobby blowouts.

The two that I can think of are Justrolledintotheshop and Fitness. I know there are fitness communities, but I miss the Weekly rant, victory posts, and the activity. There was also a circlejerk version of it and I liked lurking there. I understand that the type of person signing up here probably aren’t into some of these things.

I know Justrolledintotheshop didn’t participate in the blackout because it seems like a lot of the posters there didn’t care about the API stuff. They also don’t care about their personal data being harvested, and I’m sure they complain about right to repair and all of that fun stuff too.

Anyways, I always liked the “humorous posts; educational comments” subreddit. Another example would be programmerhumor.

I appreciate the mods for what they do, but I only feel comfortable commenting, lurking, and the occasional posting. Posting content makes me feel too connected to the internet and reminds me to touch grass more often. Hence why I wouldn’t become a mod or create those subs

I want a kitchen confidential magazine. As a cook, I found a lot of comfort visiting that sub at the end of a long day and seeing everyone else experiencing the same stuff I was. I miss that content

None really, got all my crafts here already and my other account has all kinds of gamedev communities to follow. Now that Star Trek is here and a couple of people have set up Eurovision communities, not to mention UKCasual is here, I'm pretty sorted!

Just need more people to join in with the ones that exist, now.

I'd like to see a community like r/cabinporn (nothing nsfw, just pics of cabins) ans r/overlanding

What I liked about reddit was that there was seemingly a sub for everything, no matter how ultra specific. Like r/master returns for vids of dogs happily greeting their owners, or a sub for wolfs eating watermelons etc. As far as I can tell, there are substitutes for the basic, most known subs here but ultra specific stuff lile this will probably take time.

I also miss communities for specific games I play. There are some, but even those are not super active and only for some bigger games.

What would be supper useful though is to have a place where you can ask what communities you could join based on what you want - like r/findareddit (edit: nvm, just found findacommunity@lemmy.ml!)

i enjoy reading /r/comics. the creators are still posting in reddit so the /c/comics here is not active. Maybe we can create a bot that will scrap data from reddit and post it in lemmy? Just make sure to tag or mention the OC

This one is a hard one, but so many of my favorite podcast subreddits aren't available here for sending in memes and OC. Miss those communities.

Terraria, Perfectlycutscreams but that would require video embedding, Minecraft, a lot of the chaotic comedy subs from reddit but again, video embedding. I'm sure there's more but that's what comes to mind right now.

They're up now but continuing to participate in Reddit leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm holding out for a College Football community (or, really, an FCS football community). We're coming up on the season, and I'm gonna miss the shit talking and Game Day threads, not to mention general CFB news and updates.

So far a couple of big ones (askreddit) and an unnamed one I used to occasionally go on using teddit on my PC browser are here, but I'm hoping that garfieldminusgarfield and imsorryjohn migrate if they already haven't.

I want to see the see silly story subreddits: TIFU, AITA, Am I the Devil, things like that. And I'll miss Best of Reddit updates.

Some game communities still come to mind. Snowrunner doesn't exist yet. And many others.

No Man's Sky does, though.

I'm one of those guys that was really sad when WatchPeopleDie closed down. I learned a lot from that sub, and especially just how fragile a human can be...
