Does that not cover the more sinister version on purpose?

Yes.
For one, they made that version a bit bigger in the last few hours while ceding pixels to DKs hair. So I could see another version with a slightly different area for that one.
And additionally, I don't really have any idea why that was done, if it's just "the influence of the void" or a general reference to caulrophobia. So I thought it best that I, the original "artist", not comment too much on that before I unfairly write it off as vandalism.
