Absolutely not. Lifeguards literally save so many lives. Maybe it's different in the US with its weird power structures and motives, but lifeguards are more like the fire brigade than the police here...
I'm picturing an elite force of plain-clothed lifeguards pretending to be tourists with the same energy as undercover cops trying to buy weed off of people.

Huh, I' expected more awareness from the lemmy community. I'm not the guy to write long explanatory essays, but the message is serious. Just give it a bit of thought, like, what is it that teachers actually do? (hint: It's not teaching, just ask any teacher)

Ah yeah very different here in US. Our lifeguards carry M16s and routinely harass and deport Mexicans. Drowning is an arrestable offense

Most lifeguard’s are invisible, sitting there just watching for trouble. Others though are absolute fun police when you are a kid.
