I used to play rugby with Mikey, this stocky, witty, grey haired and balding German dude. He was in his 50s when I first met him. He could barely walk for like years, oldest of our team. Yet he was a tighthead cornerstone of our scrum, and a permanent fixture of almost any game, his work rate shaming any youngster in the squad.

Last time I met him was about a year ago. He finally called time on playing and was having last pints before going full on sober for a long time because arthrosis finally won and he was scheduled for knees replacement.

Morals: go on and have a craic while you can, because there will be a day when you can't anymore. Also Mikey, you're fucking legend.
