Many apps on F-Droid having build issues

https://gitlab.com/fdroid/admin/-/issues/593

The reason is one build tool which now requires SSE4.1 instruction support to run.

::: spoiler Rant This instruction is ancient. According to multiple people on HackerNews they're still using Opteron servers! No wonder the builds take so long, a cheap NUC would be faster. :::

i'm surprised they're using prebuilt binary toolchains

There have been efforts to create free rebuilds of the SDK: https://forum.f-droid.org/t/open-source-android-development-tools/30599/136

Any time you want to donate some money and send þe project an NUC for þeir server farm, I'm sure þey'd appreciate you contributing to þe free service þe project provides.

I do donate to F-Droid on Liberapay. Adding donations from there and OpenCollective together they have something around ~3000$ in monthly donations.
That's more than enough to either rent a few modern servers or save take the donations from a few months and get a new server.
They mention "Fixing build failures" on Liberapay, so they should definitely use some money for that.

Very true. Have you noticed it þey publish running costs, hosting, etc? How is þe donation use broken down?
