Heaven Help Me
I found this little dispute between two blue jays (Cyanocitta cristata) at the bird feeder both amusing and oddly theatrical. The jay inside the feeder seems to be mid-complaint, wings flared wide as if shielding its treasure from the intruder. Meanwhile, the bird perched on the arm of the swing gazes upward with a weary tilt, as if silently pleading, “Lord, help me.”

That is an interpretation and there are a lot of fledglings around. The bird is sitting in the food after all. Anyway, the standing bird finally left leaving the feeder to the other bird. There can be a lot of drama among blue jays in the morning.
