Link in the description because the placeholder image qualifies for a CW and lemmy doesn't have a way to block that.

Just for my enlightenment, did you try explicitly providing your own thumbnail when posting the direct link?

I tried but I didn't see it load, so tried something different*.

The current thumbnail link here is: but it obviously has some hotlink protection.
