Yeah, I'm not shy or closed off at all, my introversion multiplied by my social anxiety self consciousness just makes it mentally and emotionally exhausting to be around people for too long and/or with too little time in between.
The part about the extroverts for whom most of society is designed trying to forcibly override the needs and comfort of introverts fits very well, though.

Some introverts can be super social. But they recover from it very differently.
