As I'm using agents to code plugins and more for NodeBB it's highly unfortunate that the site is non-acessible to read for AI bots; They cannot read the documentation and it's often hard linked so they don't go to Github to find the information.
Are you sure it's DoS attacks and not just AI hungry for knowledge?
Frits-Lyneborg might be they're AI crawlers... I am not a security expert.
All I know is the traffic volume overwhelmed our little server, the IP addresses were all unique, and the user-agents all generic. Our forum and docs have been crawled by AI crawlers before, none have really stopped legitimate traffic from going through.

Hey guys, sorry about that. It does look like the site isn't working, likely because we've enabled CF's "I'm under attack" mode.
We'll take a closer look and see if we can turn it off for now.

If the DoS attack starts up again we'll look into ways to keep the docs site up.

KirillEvo indeed. I have added firewall rules to allow access to ActivityPub, docs, and the main contact form.
