Do you seriously not get that the comment you replied to just explained why they think OP did it, and in no way whatsoever said that it's the right thing to do? IMO it even sounds like they strongly disagree with that trend.

My cat doesn't like a cold butt. If I'm laying on the couch she'll tuck her butt into my armpit. She likes being under covers up to her waist.
I think she's got some arthritis in her back axle, and warmth helps ease it. Where I really see it is when she's washing. Her bathtime yoga is a bit creaky.
